Bern’s space travel expertise is in demand

A delegation of Chinese space researchers was at the University of Bern in January 2019 to test and calibrate an instrument destined to go on China’s 2020 mission to Mars. “NASA, ESA and all the other space agencies come to the University of Bern on a regular basis to calibrate and test their instruments,” says Peter Wurz, Co-director of the Space Research and Planetary Sciences Department at the Physics Institute: “Our MEFISTO calibration facility is the only place in the world where they can do that.”
